Mobile Device Management (MDM) allows operators, service providers, and handset manufacturers to remotely manage mobile devices. While the capabilities of 3G mobile devices are becoming ever more sophisticated and integrated-with high-definition colour screens, faster processors, built-in cameras, and integrated media players-they require flexible management to satisfy the needs of end-customers, service providers, network operators, and handset manufacturers.

Going hand in hand with MDM and in need of improvements is also mobile device and services usability. Current mobile services and portals suffer from poor usability even though network performance and availability of handsets has improved. Navigation through menus and using services on mobile handsets is still perceived as problematic and in many cases a reason not to use services. The majority of users will tolerate an average navigation time of 30 seconds to reach a service. Unfortunately, most users spend significantly more time reaching a service they regularly use. There is the need for mobile operators and handset manufacturers to work together on usability measurements and testing for these services to provide a better navigation experience and improve the accessibility and uptake of mobile services leading to increased revenues.

The 2^nd Annual Marcusevans Mobile Device Management Service Usability will look at how to improve quality of service, service provisioning, device and service usability, revenue generation and cost reduction strategies for mobile operators.
