After attending the Handset Fashion and Style Congress hosted by ARCCHART a few weeks ago, I posted this question on LinkedIn: “Is a luxury phone a contradiction in terms?

I pointed out in my question that while I had no problem getting my head around the idea of the ‘fashion phone’, the idea of a big market for luxury phones proved a little more challenging despite the analogies being made between it and the ‘luxury watch’. As you would expect, a statement like that was bound to draw some heat.

The responses that came in were very interesting indeed. The original question is now closed but for those of you that want the opportunity to have your say, I have posted a shorter version of it on the Answers page of this portal. However, if anyone is especially keen for me to do so, I can open up the original again.

Also, having raised the question, I decided to come off the fence and say where I stand on the subject. For those that are interested, my views are summarised in this article. Please feel free to send me your comments or post them as a response to the question in our Answers forum.
