Since 2004, Initiative Mittelstand has given an innovation award for the ICT sector. An independent jury of experts and technical industry editors awards the prize to companies offering innovative products, services, and solutions that offer superior benefits for medium-sized businesses. The initiative is known for providing trusted advice to businesses on their choice of IT and telecommunication solutions and informing them about the potential of new technologies. The innovation award is endowed with a total of EUR 150,000, and this year's awards show is under the patronage of Professor Andreas Pinkwart, Germany's Minister of Innovation.

Using established industry standards such as SyncML and Push IMAP and the new email-to-SMS functionality, Synchronica Mobile Gateway allows push email and data synchronization for virtually every phone in use today. Synchronica Mobile Backup includes support for OMA DS (SyncML) for backing up and restoring contact, calendar, and other data to the majority of mobile phones.

Synchronica also supports POP3 and IMAP mailboxes and enables mobile email using popular consumer services like AOL or Gmail. The company offers unique zero footprint architecture for business customers, whereby users simply register their devices and start to receive corporate email on their phone immediately, without requiring additional connectors behind the firewall. Supported business mailboxes include Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Domino, and Sun Java Communications Suite.

"We are very pleased that we have once again been selected to win the Initiative Mittelstand Innovation Award. Medium-sized businesses are the backbone of the German economy and therefore stand to derive a great deal of benefit from our products. Because of our concentration on open industry standards, all companies, no matter their size, can now send and receive emails via their mobile phones and synchronize and secure mobile data easily and cost-effectively", commented Nicole Meissner, Chief Marketing Officer of Synchronica.
