WARSZAWA, Poland / PITT MEADOWS, BC / SAN DIEGO, Calif. March 12, 2008 -- Exatel S.A.
announced today that it will deliver
innovative
WiMAX services to business, municipal, and other users using
software and equipment from Proximetry, a technology leader
in real-time wireless network and performance management
solutions, and equipment from Tranzeo Wireless Technologies
Inc., a premier manufacturer of high-performance
wireless broadband solutions. The next generation WiMAX
network architecture uses Tranzeo's carrier-class TR-WMX-3.5-pBS
3.5GHz pico Base Stations and TR-WMX-3.5 Subscriber Units
both powered by Proximetry's AirSync™ intelligent provisioning
and management software to control and manage the users,
devices, and services on the network. AirSync has an open
architecture that can be extended and integrated to support
other wireless and wireline elements in the carrier network.
Exatel's initial network rollout will focus on three major
cities in Poland with deployments in over 20 cities by the
end of 2008.
"As a long time supporter of WiMAX we have had many investments
in pilot solutions, and $1500 per sector for a next generation
WiMAX solution gives Exatel much more flexibility in deploying
new customer services," said Pawel Olech, vice president
of the management board for Exatel. "The AirSync-enabled
pico Base Station means we can offer differentiated services
for increased revenues, while also enjoying advanced manageability
of the network. The result is a much improved and highly
scalable business model that gives us the ability to compete
aggressively for business, municipal, and other customers
in the market."
The breakthrough price, performance of the Tranzeo WiMAX
solution coupled with AirSync enables carriers to deploy
a next generation WiMAX network with more robust network
coverage and throughput, and optimized service and application
performance. As a result, more bandwidth can be immediately
directed to key users and geographies as the network scales
up. Exatel's innovative WiMAX service model takes full advantage
of AirSync's highly granular service controls so users and
their applications are guaranteed to get the performance
when and where needed.
Combining Proximetry's AirSync intelligent provisioning
and management software with Tranzeo's carrier class network
equipment provides a comprehensive, turn-key, and low-cost
WiMAX solution. This combined solution is ideally suited
for next generation WiMAX service offerings where different
user types, applications, and devices each need varying
degrees of guaranteed quality of service (QoS). AirSync
enables the Tranzeo system to be autonomously provisioned
and service levels managed according to network policies
and the real-time use and behavior of the network. This
dynamic approach to managing network performance enables
Exatel to take an innovative position in offering new services
to its clients.
"Exatel exemplifies a new breed of carrier that will offer
differentiated, next generation WiMAX services," said Tracy
Trent, Proximetry's chief executive officer. "And to do
that, they need a new type of base station that is low-cost
and rapidly deployable, while also having the intelligence
to manage all the competing applications, services, users,
and devices on the network in real time."
Proximetry's AirSync continually monitors and optimizes
all wireless connections in the network to enable maximum
throughput, services, and end user satisfaction. This approach
of active monitoring, and real-time adjustments, assures
that appropriate service levels are always met for all authorized
users. The result is a wireless network with the performance,
scalability, and reliability typically found in carrier-class
wireline networks. AirSync's intelligent provisioning aligns
network resources to user and device priorities, makes dynamic
bandwidth allocations to meet changing user demands, and
uses predictive routing and optimal resource configuration
to maximize throughput and other performance parameters.
Dynamic and flexible configuration of network resources
and assured bandwidth allocation are essential ingredients
in delivering quality-of-service in today's increasingly
complex wireless networks.
