LAS VEGAS, Nv April 1, 2008 -- FusionOne, a leading
provider of mobile phone back-up
services, today announced that it has
reached an agreement with Qualcomm to offer BREW®
application restore to devices for BREW operators. The agreement enables
Qualcomm’s application restore client server
module to be integrated with FusionOne’s
proprietary MightyBackup client server product.
FusionOne’s MightyBackup service offers
numerous benefits, which can include:
operator brand loyalty, customer satisfaction and retention
increased revenue flow via easy device migration and backup
continuous subscription revenue and prevention of revenue leakage for
content providers
A recent FusionOne survey conducted by Market Tools, Inc. indicates that
44 percent of mobile phone users delay upgrading their devices because
they don’t have an easy way to restore their
content and only 13 percent repurchase some or all of their licensed
content when they replace their mobile phone.
“Offering a complete backup solution for BREW
operators will address an important business need,”
said Mitch Oliver, vice president of solutions and marketing for
Qualcomm Internet Services. “BREW Operators
can now provide mobile phone users the option of restoring their
licensed BREW applications when they upgrade or change their hardware.”
“This is a great opportunity for operators to
offer a complete back-up service to their customers and will provide
tremendous benefits to everyone involved—from
operators to mobile phone users,” said Perry
LaForge, founder, chairman and executive director of the CDMA
Development Group.
“By using Qualcomm’s
application restore client server module, we are creating a better
back-up experience for BREW operators,” said
Mike Mulica, chief executive officer of FusionOne. “With
more and more mobile users downloading licensed content on to their
phones, they need a reliable and secure back-up solution that will save
all of their valued content when their phone needs to be replaced.”
FusionOne’s MightyBackup service, which is
used by numerous global carriers, protects nearly half a billion mobile
phone contacts. MightyBackup, built on the robust and patented FusionOne
Mobile Platform, wirelessly backs up the mobile phone address book and
other licensed content to FusionOne’s secure
data center, keeps the information continually up-to-date and
automatically restores the records when the user replaces or upgrades
their mobile phone. This affordable service enables online management of
the address book, automatic recovery of information and secure
protection for the valuable contact information stored on a user’s
mobile phone. The MightyBackup service is currently available on both
the BREW solution and Java platform.
