RESTON, Va April 16, 2008 -- Wireless Matrix Corporation today announced that
it has joined
the MultiSpeak® Initiative for software
application integration and interoperability.
Created by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association,
MultiSpeak is a software specification designed to help
electric cooperatives automate business processes and exchange
data among software applications. The MultiSpeak specification
helps vendors and utilities develop interfaces so that software
products from different vendors can interoperate without
requiring the development of extensive custom interfaces.
According to the NRECA's MultiSpeak website, "It is expected
that MultiSpeak will make cost-effective, integrated software
applications more readily available to utilities."
Under the initiative, Wireless Matrix's FleetOutlook suite
of applications will be integrated for interoperability
with other applications that adhere to the MultiSpeak specification.
This integration will allow FleetOutlook to exchange data
with a variety of applications already in use by fleets
in the markets Wireless Matrix serves. As a result, FleetOutlook
will support intuitive operation with other applications,
and can be deployed more quickly to realize a faster return
on investment.
"The addition of the MultiSpeak integration to FleetOutlook
provides plug compatibility with other industry standard
applications for use by rural utilities," said J. Richard
Carlson, president and CEO of Wireless Matrix. "The reduced
total cost of ownership and quicker time to deploy our solutions
will allow customers to leverage greater value from their
fleets faster, with reduced risk. Integrating with other
leaders is a key part of our strategy."
Wireless Matrix is a member of the National Rural Electric
Cooperative Association. The company has over 7,000 subscribers
among approximately 25 utility companies, including Dominion
Resources, Union Gas and Trinity Valley Electric Co-op.
MultiSpeak® is a registered trademark of the National
Rural Electric Cooperative Association.
