Top U.S. Bank Chooses Onset's METAmessage Mobile Device Manager for Large BlackBerry Deployment Print E-mail
WALTHAM, Mass.  May 14, 2008 -- Onset Technology, a leading developer of applications for

smartphones, announced today the purchase of 30k+ licenses of METAmessage® Mobile Device Manager by one of the top three U.S. banks by market value. The bank purchased Mobile Device Manager to help administer its considerable deployment of BlackBerry® smartphones from Research In Motion (RIM).

METAmessage® Mobile Device Manager provides a variety of tools to help IT manage BlackBerry smartphone deployments. For example, the solution takes advantage of the "push" capabilities of BlackBerry® Enterprise Server to let IT staff quickly and easily send new applications to smartphones and upgrade existing applications. According to bank officials, with METAmessage Mobile Device Manager, IT staff now spend a tenth of the time on application deployments than they used to spend, a dramatic savings in both time and money.

"The bank supports tens of thousands of BlackBerry smartphones, and this can be a significant IT task, especially with users working across several continents," said Hagai Vered, Onset's vice president of research and development. "By facilitating centralized administration and reducing the overhead for managing applications, we've helped lighten the load. With the considerable amount of time saved, the bank's return on investment (ROI) was achieved in a matter of weeks."

METAmessage Mobile Device Manager, installed at a number of large U.S. banking and other financial institutions, works with BlackBerry Enterprise Server to offer the following capabilities:

  1. Increases the success rate of application push deployment
  2. Allows scheduling of application distribution to off-peak hours to minimize impact on users and reduce the load on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server
  3. Improved overview and control through detailed BlackBerry smartphone inventory reports of users, modules, and applications
  4. Web-Console with Role-Based Administration for centralized administration of users and devices across multiple BlackBerry Enterprise Servers (BES)
METAmessage is implemented by more than 1,400 customers with over 150,000 users as a complete, out-of-the-box solution for BlackBerry smartphones. Emergency Communications ensures effective messaging in the event of a loss of enterprise network, email, or back-end infrastructure. Advanced Paging eliminates the need to carry both a pager and a BlackBerry smartphone. The Advanced Compliance Tool makes it easy to meet federal and state regulations for PIN/SMS/MMS message archiving and controls sensitive message content. Professional provides access to network files, spell checking, printing anywhere, custom message alerts, and much more.
