LOS ANGELES, Calif. May 27, 2008 -- WebMessenger, an award-winning leader in enterprise
mobile
communications, today announced that its WebMessenger Mobile™
for Microsoft Office Communications Server (OCS) solution now supports
Nokia smartphones leveraging the S60 mobile platform from Symbian.
Businesses utilizing the popular Microsoft unified communications
platform can extend the same functionality to mobile professionals,
stimulating previously unattainable collaboration worldwide and
throughout Europe, where Nokia S60 devices are a leader in the
enterprise market. WebMessenger Mobile for Microsoft OCS on Nokia S60
devices will be on-display this week at the S60 Summit in Barcelona,
Spain, in the Nokia booth.
“The European business market is in need of
mobile unified communications solutions,” said
Mark Blowers, Enterprise Architectures Practice Director for Butler
Group. “Nokia S60 smartphones have achieved
excellent penetration in the region. With the adoption of Microsoft OCS
in Europe also increasing, there is the potential for European
businesses to enhance productivity among the growing distributed mobile
workforce. ”
Microsoft OCS manages all real-time (synchronous) communications
including instant messaging, VoIP, audio and video conferencing.
Microsoft OCS also powers presence, a key benefit of Microsoft unified
communications that unites all the contact information stored in Active
Directory with the ways people communicate. WebMessenger Mobile for
Microsoft OCS extends similar functionality to Nokia S60 devices,
enabling mobile professionals to achieve the same collaboration and
productivity opportunities in the field that they experience in the
office. Additional benefits include reduced operational expenses and
increased workplace appeal for tech-savvy, younger recruits.
WebMessenger Mobile for Microsoft OCS was the recipient of the best
enterprise application award in the 2008 AT&T Fast-Pitch competition at
a recent mobile industry event.
“Forum Nokia is happy to support WebMessenger’s
global rollout of the OCS solution for Nokia S60 devices,”
said Eric John, Director of Marketing, Forum Nokia. “It’s
great to see a Forum Nokia PRO developer like WebMessenger advancing
mobility and communications through their innovative solution.”
“As a Forum Nokia PRO member we are excited
to work with Nokia in addressing an important problem for European
businesses,” said Val Babajov, Founder and
CEO of WebMessenger. “Microsoft and Nokia
laid much of the groundwork for enterprise mobile communications by
raising awareness for their OCS and S60 products, respectively. Adoption
has increased steadily throughout Europe, as businesses aim to
capitalize on the benefits of collaboration and mobile communications.
WebMessenger bridges the gap between Microsoft OCS and Nokia
smartphones, enabling customers to maximize their return on both
products, while increasing productivity across the enterprise.”
WebMessenger Mobile for Microsoft OCS on Nokia S60 devices can be used
by itself or in conjunction with other WebMessenger Mobile solutions to
federate leading IM networks, connect with enterprise voice IP PBX
platforms, extend persistent group chat solutions, or leverage existing
auditing and compliance tracking solutions. Pricing for WebMessenger
Mobile for Microsoft OCS starts at $72 per seat.
