SAN DIEGO, Calif. May 29, 2008 -- Qualcomm Incorporated today announced its Cryptographic
Extension for BREW®. The extension provides an advanced cryptographic library to enhance security for wireless applications developed using BREW.
This extension is the only NIST FIPS 140-2 certified cryptographic module available for the BREW solution. BREW developers have always had access to powerful cryptography algorithms and secure loading of signed applications inherit to the BREW solution itself; this extension expands the base platform to include NIST certified algorithm implementations. Additionally, the extension uses advanced libraries from Certicom Corporation to support the full set of Suite B algorithms, including AES and elliptic curve key exchange algorithms.
“The NIST certified extension is available to developers looking to produce applications for the federal government, public safety, first responders and anyone else needing a FIPS 140-2 compliant platform,” said Diane Winchell, senior director of product management for Qualcomm Government Technologies. “We are proud to make such a strong solution available to developers in need of NIST level security.”
Qualcomm Government Technologies leverages Qualcomm's wireless expertise, technologies and industry reach to provide capabilities and services that enable government customers to realize significant technology gains and excellence in mission performance.
