Huawei to Expand GSM Network of Grameenphone in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Bangladesh  June 4, 2008 -- Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. ("Huawei") today announced that it has signed a contract with Grameenphone Ltd., a leading mobile operator in Bangladesh and a Telenor subsidiary, for large-scale capacity expansion and enhancement of Next Generation GSM Core and Radio network.

Huawei's solution will also improve the quality of service experienced by Grameenphone customers and thereby enhance the operator's competitive advantage in the market.

Huawei Helps PCCW Deploy Hong Kong's First CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev. A Network

Hong Kong, China  June 5, 2008 -- Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. ("Huawei") has announced that it has been selected by PCCW, Hong Kong's leading telecommunication provider, to help deploy Hong Kong's first CDMA2000 1X/1xEV-DO Rev. A Network. This means that travelers to the city will be able to roam on PCCW's network and experience seamless CDMA roaming and mobile data services.

Under the terms of agreement, Huawei will provide its fourth generation CDMA Base Transceiver Station (BTS) solution to help PCCW construct a CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev. A network. Huawei's fourth generation BTS features multi-standard convergence, high integration, All-IP, energy conservation & environmental protection, and fully meets PCCW's business requirement for long-term development as it reduces the operator's operational costs and ensures it can evolve smoothly beyond 3G in the future.

Huawei launches the latest terminals to support operators boost 3G business

SINGAPORE  June 18, 2008 -- COMMUNICASIA 2008 -- Huawei Technologies Co Ltd. ("Huawei") today launched its latest HSPA USB stick, 3G phones and HSDPA gateway at the industry benchmark event CommunicAsia in Singapore. This move signifies Huawei' s continuous efforts in supporting operators to boost their 3G business.

Dedicated to help operators develop mobile broadband services and thus create potentials for operators by providing innovative products, Huawei highlighted its new product, the HSPA USB stick E180 with an ultra-slim shape measuring only 10mm thickness. The USB interface of E180 can be rotated by 270 degrees for protection purposes and ease of transportation. E180 supports multiple modes, including HSPA, UMTS, EDGE, GPRS and GSM. Its uplink rate reaches 5.76 Mbit/s while it allows a downlink rate of up to 7.2 Mbit/s. The E180, targeted at mobile internet users across all ages, will be available globally in the second half of June 2008.

Huawei also launched three chic 3G mobile phones, the huawei_u7310l.jpgU7310, huawei_u1310.jpgU1310 and huawei_u3300_4.jpgU3300. Enabling easy internet surfing with HSDPA 3.6Mps, U7310 is a modem phone with Plug & Play function. Less than 14mm thick and with a 3.6 Mbit/s downlink rate, U7310 allows its users to enjoy high speed mobile internet-browsing experience. U1310 is nominated for the 2008 Red Dot Award for its elegant and compact design. Using the U3300, music enthusiasts can enjoy and share music through an FM transmitter with this entry level slider phone. As the leading customized 3G handset supplier, Huawei provides flexible, prompt and innovative customization services to operators and thus help operator develop 3G subscribers.

To help operators develop broadband services in family scenario, Huawei also launched the HSDPA gateway B932 with an elegant and simple appearance of only 27mm thickness. Family members can enjoy high speed internet surfing, as the B932 fully supports 900/2100Mhz spectrum in the 3G (HSDPA and UMTS) modes, and full spectrum in the 2G-2.5G mode (EDGE, GPRS and GSM).
In total, Huawei has shipped over 30 million terminal products till May of 2008, including handsets, mobile broadband terminals, convergence terminals, FN-CPE and video-conferencing solutions.

 

Huawei and EMOBILE Provide Journalists Attending G8 Summit with Mobile Broadband Access

Tokyo, Japan  June 18, 2008 -- EMOBILE Ltd.(EMOBILE) and Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. (Huawei), have announced that they will provide journalists covering Hokkaido Toyako Summit with high-speed HSDPA mobile connectivity service and equipment or what is commonly called "Mobile Broadband".

Huawei will distribute more than 1,000 high-speed wireless modems to facilitate journalists at the International Media Centre, located at Rusutsu Resort, which will link with EMOBILE' s HSDPA (high speed downlink packet access) network and allow them to receive data transmitted at rates up to 7.2Mbps – twice as fast as the existing products. Huawei will also supply a multilingual team of IT experts at their booth in the lobby of the Rusutsu Resort from July 5 to 10 to assist with any technical enquiries.

EMOBILE has invested in base station infrastructure around Lake Toya, Rusutsu Village, and the Niseko area, and has strengthened its existing network in both Chitose and Sapporo to ensure wireless connectivity for the journalists. This will remain in place after the Summit to maintain the high-speed mobile broadband network coverage in the entire region.

To date, modems made by Huawei have achieved an accumulative shipment to Japan of more than 250,000 units.

Adopted by 235 operators, Huawei' s mobile broadband products have been sold in 115 countries and regions (as of May, 2008).

Huawei Unveils its most-advanced WiMAX Distributed BTS in Europe

Amsterdam, Netherlands  June 28, 2008 -- Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. ("Huawei") unveiled its most-advanced WiMAX distributed BTS at the WiMAX Forum Global Congress 2008, held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Zhao Ming, Vice President of Huawei Wireless Product line, delivered a keynote speech at the forum:"Broadband and convergence: paving the way for the future mobile internet". He expressed that guided by the four development concepts of "Convergence, Broadband, Green, and Evolution", Huawei has established its leading position in the wireless broadband industry through considerable investment.

At the forum, Huawei unveiled its most advanced WiMAX distributed BTS which is able to help operators build better future-oriented mobile WiMAX networks. The fourth generation BTS will help operators reduce resources like equipment room and energy, which are the key to green communications.
