ip.access Selects Tektronix for Femtocell Testing Print E-mail
RICHARDSON, Tx.  July 1, 2008 -- Tektronix Communications, a leading worldwide provider of

communications network management and diagnostics test solutions, announced today that ip.access Ltd. has selected the G35 protocol analyzer to provide simulation of UMTS core networks to UMTS Femto- and Macro Radio Access Networks for the design and test of their femtocell access point elements.

"Tektronix' G35 test platform gives us a reliable simulation solution to test our pioneering femtocell technology, and enables us to enrich our test environment with core network capabilities without needing to buy and maintain an expensive core network infrastructure," said Dr. Nick Johnson, CTO of ip.access.

"The addition of UMTS core network simulation is critical to the commercial availability of our femtocell solutions in time for anticipated operator deployments in early 2009."

ip.access, a leading provider of mobile broadband infrastructure products, is developing a femtocell technology solution to provide consumers with enhanced mobile voice, video and data services for effective indoor communications. Femtocells have the potential to transform communications by making mobile devices the tools of choice, even in home and office settings. Tektronix' G35 protocol analyzer provides a comprehensive platform for functional testing of a wide range of interfaces for all the latest mobile technologies. This meets ip.access' requirements for powerful simulation capabilities for its development test environment, including simulation of voice and video over IP in a single, cost-effective solution.

"With the G35, Tektronix offers the industry's most comprehensive functional and load test environment and broadest range of test interfaces," said Richard Kenedi, General Manager, Function & Load Diagnostics, Tektronix Communications. "This is an essential requirement for ip.access in their delivery of leading-edge femtocell network infrastructure solutions."
