Strix Systems Introduces the Ultimate Hot-Zone Solution for Economical Turn Key Wireless Deployments Print E-mail
CALABASAS, Calif.  Aug. 12, 2008 -- Strix Systems, a worldwide leader in high-performance wireless

mesh networking, today announced the addition of Strix Integrated Hot-Spot Systems (HSx) and The Ultimate Hot-Zone Solution to its family of award winning products and solutions.

Strix HSx presents new economics and opportunities for hot-zone deployments

Strix HSx is a dual-radio Hot-Spot system delivering 802.11a (optional 4.9GHz) and 802.11g for a combination of high density user access and high-speed backhaul to Strix Access/One Outdoor Wireless Systems. Powered by Strix Edge OS, the HSx is a plug-n-play access point supporting up to 64 users per node and industry-standard security algorithms for secured backhaul and client connectivity, multiple VLANs, end-to-end Quality of Service and a graphical GUI-based menu system. The HSx scales efficiently and economically, maximizing coverage areas affordably, greatly reducing deployment and operating costs and the total cost of ownership.

Strix Ultimate Hot-Zone Solution redefines the next generation of wireless broadband access.

Achieving both smart economics and high performance, Strix Maxpacks combine Strix OWS, Strix HSx, cables, antennas, mounting hardware, lightning suppression and related components to deliver a complete turn-key solution. The first Maxpack includes a single OWS and three (3) HSx, the second Maxpack includes two (2) OWS nodes and six (6) HSx. The third Maxpack includes three (3) OWS and nine (9) HSx. Expansion packs are available for each Maxpack to achieve the desired scalability.

Acting as a wireless switch, the Strix OWS accepts connection requests from each Strix HSx and instantly establishes an encrypted backhaul connection between itself and the HSx devices. The HSx then offers high-speed 802.11a/b or 802.11g Wi-Fi network access to groups of users in the area. The HSx is economically priced at under one thousand dollars per node for those who want to start small, with the option of scaling big: another reason why Strix Systems products are acknowledged as the industrys most scalable Wi-Fi architectures on the market and the standard for performance and reliability.

The economics of our new hot zone solution makes it very attractive not only for new deployments but existing ones as well, said Martin Levetin, Sr. Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Strix Systems. This solution is targeted to locations such as mobile home parks, marinas, camp grounds, MDUs, university campuses and a variety of industrial applications. The solution is also a good fit for video surveillance hot zones and low subscriber density situations such as rural areas.

In concert with Strix Maxpacks, Strix Premier Partners offer a suite of professional services including design, deployment and managed services to achieve a fast and simplified deployment for owners.

The flexibility of Strix Ultimate Hot-Zone Solution enabled us as a Strix Partner to add our own unique value added managed services to ease and reduce the owners involvement, said Ryan McCaige, Senior Partner, Ivy League Consulting. Remote locations such as mobile home parks, marinas, camp grounds and strategic applications such as construction sites and oil rigs are well served by this solution.
