KIRKLAND, Wa. Aug. 19, 2008 -- GotVoice, Inc., the
voice messaging company, today announced
Stephen Wu has joined its leadership
team. In his new position as Vice President of Sales and Business
Development, Wu will be responsible for leading sales and partnership
efforts with carriers and service providers, and driving the company's
international expansion into global markets.
A former Microsoft executive and Managing Director of The Carlyle Group,
Mr. Wu has over two decades of strategic, executive, international and
operational experience in high technology management, private equity and
business management. Building on the existing momentum of GotVoice, Mr. Wu
will work to partner GotVoice with carriers and IP communication providers
to incorporate the GotVoice G2 solution into companies' existing platforms.
GotVoice G2 is a voicemail-to-text transcription engine and utilizes advanced free-form speech recognition
technologies when transcribing voicemail. Its patented communications
platform is the first-of-its-kind to unify mobile, home, PBX, VoIP and
IP-based PBX voice messages, allowing users to read their voicemail or
listen to them as digital audio using email, a mobile phone, or via the
Web. This enables GotVoice partners to offer end-users a single solution
for checking all of their voicemail -- and provides them with voicemail
transcription that is faster, better quality and is offered at a lower
price point than is available anywhere else in the world.
"I have the advantage of coming on board at time when globally, carriers
and service providers are seeking differentiation through services like
GotVoice," said Stephen Wu, Vice President of Sales and Business
Development. "Our carrier-grade solution is unparalleled in that it has
been trained against millions of individual speakers from carriers
throughout our markets and boasts unmatched accuracy and speed. We are
helping to drive revenues for our partners by differentiating their
offerings at a price point that stimulates usage."
Prior to joining GotVoice, Mr. Wu was Senior Vice President of Strategic
Marketing at NextWave Wireless, Inc. where he was responsible for the
company's strategic relationships. Before this, he was a Founding and
General Partner of The Carlyle Group's Asian Technology Funds. He also
spent over a decade at Microsoft Corporation where he held senior and
general management positions in various groups including the online MSN
division, where he launched the MSN portals in Asia -- as well as its
Product Groups, Consulting and Sales divisions.
"GotVoice is poised for growth. We knew the right person for this job would
quickly step in line to help drive thought leadership of GotVoice
advantages," said Curt Blake, CEO of GotVoice. "Stephen embraces the
entrepreneurial spirit of GotVoice. He understands our partners and our
significant global market opportunity, and will serve our business model
well."
The GotVoice G2 Platform is capable of supporting millions of users with
its carrier-grade, high quality transcription engine built for scalability
and capable of interoperating with all major voice and VoIP carriers. Its
patented unified communications functionality allows seamless access to
existing Interactive Voice Response (IVR) and/or voicemail systems, as well
as voicemail-to-text conversion -- without infrastructure upgrades or
capital outlays. With GotVoice, carriers have an economical and effortless
method for delivering their subscribers' voicemail as both text and digital
audio files via email, SMS, Web and API, creating additional revenue
streams and increased data traffic. The GotVoice solution is available
today to carriers and IP communications providers via OEM, APIs, White
Label and Hosted Solutions.
