BEIJING, China Sept. 3, 2008 -- Red
Bend Software, a market leader in Mobile Software Management
(MSM),
today announced it has signed a licensing agreement with Lenovo Mobile
to integrate Red Bend’s market-leading vCurrent® Mobile software for
firmware over-the-air (FOTA) updating and vDirect Mobile™ software for
device management in Lenovo Mobile’s i399 feature phone for China
Mobile Communications Corp. (CMCC). Lenovo Mobile is the top domestic
brand handset manufacturer in China.
“Red Bend’s FOTA and DM clients in the
Lenovo Mobile i399 will enable Lenovo to meet its operator requirements
for standards-based device management in order to improve customer
service and the mobile user experience,” said Danny Wang, Country Manager of Greater China for Red Bend Software.
Red Bend’s vCurrent Mobile enables
operators and manufacturers to quickly, securely and cost-effectively
deliver firmware updates over-the-air to mobile phones in consumers’
hands. Its Failsafe feature ensures a successful firmware update, even
if the phone loses power during the update process. vDirect
Mobile is a device management client that provides provisioning,
configuration, device information retrieval and security. It is an
independent DM client that breaks the dependency of closed DM systems. Red
Bend’s vCurrent Mobile and vDirect Mobile support Open Mobile Alliance
(OMA) Device Management (DM) standards and are interoperable with OMA
DM-compliant servers.
“Mobile handsets manufacturers in China and
around the world have come to trust Red Bend as the expert in mobile
software management because of our superior performance, reliability and exceptional support,”
continued Wang. “This agreement with Lenovo Mobile marks the first
domestically manufactured mobile phone to ship with our software in
China. With the success of this popular feature phone, we believe Red
Bend will continue to gain momentum in the Chinese mobile ecosystem.”
