SAN DIEGO, Calif. Sept. 8, 2008 -- Awind Inc. from Taiwan announced its brand new MobiShow
solution at the DEMOfall 08 conference. The MobiShow solution provides desktop projection, Wireless Presentation-to-Go (PtG), and video streaming from mobile phones to any display with a standard VGA connector.
"We are very excited to announce MobiShow at DEMOfall, where innovation is highly valued," said Richard Chen, program manager of Awind. "MobiShow delivers more possibilities for mobile phone applications, and we believe people who travel around the world for business would love to have such an accessory in their pocket."
The solution integrates proprietary software running on SmartPhones and an external box to connect to TVs or projectors. The MobiShow box itself is a wireless Access Point. A SmartPhone with WiFi connection simply connects to the box and launches the software on the phone to become a mobile computer. Besides projecting the entire screen, there is a Wireless PtG feature to project converted PowerPoint files in XGA resolution, while the phone acts as a remote control for the presentation.
"What makes Wireless PtG so unique is that it preserves all the transitions, not to mention that it runs on a mobile phone," said Dr. Kuolung Chang, CEO of Awind.
MobiShow can also stream videos stored on a cell phone, even while talking on the phone. Dr. Chang said enthusiastically, "We want to show something the world has never seen! That's the value of Awind."
"Awind is a great example of the innovation power from Taiwan," said Chris Shipley, the executive producer of DEMO. "MobiShow is a wonderful accessory to mobile phones. I'm glad to see more Taiwanese teams shining on the DEMO stage."
Awind demonstrated its Windows Mobile version on stage, and a prototype of its iPhone version in the Pavilion. Also at the stand are products which integrate various Internet services and content, such as Internet TV streaming and video subscription service from Web communities. These products are all built on the mTVic platform, which Awind plans to open to programmers shortly.
