More than 1,900 Ameren employees use Mobility XE™, NetMotion's Mobile VPN software, to secure connections to applications and customer records across wireless coverage gaps and across various networks. Ameren provides energy services to 2.4 million customers in Missouri and Illinois and natural gas to nearly one million customers.

Ameren today manages a field force of thousands of employees that monitor Ameren's services and travel to and from Ameren facilities and customer homes to measure utility usage. The workers utilize cellular networks in order to register customer account information and respond to outages. With Mobility XE, Ameren employees can roam between wireless and wired networks, and across coverage gaps, while maintaining reliable applications. In addition, Mobility XE allows Ameren's IT administrators to centrally manage the mobile devices in the field, including specifying application and bandwidth priorities.
