London, UK Sept. 8, 2008 -- The Device Management Forum a company formed to promote the
interests of major stakeholders in the development, distribution, management, security and use of information, communication and entertainment devices announced today that it will host its first industry conference at the Confederation of British Industry’s facility at Centrepoint, London, 103 New Oxford Street, London, UK on 27-29 October 2008.
The conference theme will be Managing Innovative Devices and Services (MIDAS), and the event invites attendees to share best practices and learn from industry experts the golden rules for device, application and service innovation and management.
The venue, frequent home of the popular Mobile Monday London meetings that attract many of the leading developers in mobile technology, has been selected for its central location and several developers from the community are due to participate in the event.
Device Management Forum’s founder, Abraham Joseph explained why this event is different. “Many of the device management events to date have been too narrowly focused and too expensive for most of the industry’s smaller innovators and many other stakeholders to participate in. We are addressing both of these issues. The event will cover the drivers for device management, the breath of solutions, tools and services available, and the extent to which device management underpins many of the new and exciting services that the market is talking about. Additionally, we are keeping prices low for both exhibitors and delegates.”
This 3-day conference will address three distinct stakeholder groups: service providers, device and solution vendors, and enterprises. The pressing issues facing each of these groups will be addressed and the final day will be devoted to futures. Here attendees will learn how the evolution of devices, platforms and management systems will affect their businesses.
Mr. Dominique Schmid, CEO of Sicap, one of the event’s platinum sponsors added, “We are delighted to support this brand new event. Sicap has supported the Device Management Forum since its formation and firmly believes that the business-enabling capacity of open-standards in device management will help all telecom players seamlessly exploit the potential of their networks.”
The first day of the event will focus on service provider issues, and include presentations on management challenges as well as new applications and services such as mobile payments, mobile marketing and mobile search. The second day will be devoted mostly to the enterprise and include sessions on enterprise mobility platforms, IT governance, security and fixed mobile convergence within the enterprise. The final day will look ahead to the new devices, applications and services we can expect in the future, the management challenges they are likely to pose and possible opportunities for various stakeholder groups. Sessions include a technology roadmap, using mobile device management to deliver value added services, and enhancing user experience in future generations of mobile technology.
In addition, there will be a packed programme on the evening of each of the first two conference days, including a roundtable debate, a platform for developers to promote their latest applications in a series of elevator pitches, sponsor-led breakout sessions, and of course the opportunities to meet, discuss and network.
Alongside the conference there will be a Product Expo where attendees will be able to see the most comprehensive range of tools for managing devices and services and meet some of the leading players in this market.
A great line up of who’s who in the device and service industries, including Vodafone, Nokia, Microsoft, Intel, Sicap, Cisco, Hutchinson, Nokia Siemens Networks will present thought provoking and educational content at MIDAS.
