Find, Preview And Share Your Favorite Mobile Videos With m.vcast.com From Verizon Wireless

BASKING RIDGE, NJ, / SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.  Sept. 9, 2008 -- Verizon Wireless said on the eve of CTIA WIRELESS I.T. & Entertainment 2008 in San Francisco it is launching m.vcast.com, a new site that brings the best of V CAST Video content to the Mobile Web. With m.vcast.com, customers can sample what V CAST Video has to offer by watching clips of the latest content added to the site.

vz_vcast_on_lg_dare.jpgLeveraging the streaming video capability of the HTML Web browser on select handsets and the growing popularity of mobile video, m.vcast.com allows customers to browse content by category, channel or show, then watch and share that video with their friends and other wireless users. Customers can create a username and account, which gives them the ability to access and share other content and Web sites, including the social networking site Twitter.

“With m.vcast.com, customers who want to learn about the latest videos from many different providers can find them quickly and easily, and at the same time, can share what they’ve found with their social networks online so their friends can get to them quickly and easily through the HTML browser on their handsets,” said Jennifer Byrne, director of digital media at Verizon. “This is another way V CAST can provide entertainment and information to people when it’s relevant and most convenient for them.”

Customers can find m.vcast.com by launching Mobile Web from their handsets, clicking on the Entertainment channel, then clicking on Videos where it appears with other great choices that incorporate streaming video, including YouTube™. The Mobile Web site is currently available on Verizon Wireless phones with HTML browsers, including the Voyager™ by LG and the LG Dare™. More devices with HTML browser capabilities are expected to be available soon.

Buzzwire, a Mobile Web application company, is working with Verizon Wireless to develop and deliver m.vcast.com. Unlimited Mobile Web usage is included with a $15.00 monthly V CAST VPak subscription, which also includes access to V CAST Video, V CAST Music and Get It Now® applications. Alternatively, customers can access Mobile Web for free with a Nationwide Plan but will incur usage charges of $1.99 per megabyte.

Wireless Customers Get Creative With New Applications From Verizon Wireless

BASKING RIDGE, N.J., / SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.  Sept. 9, 2008 -- Verizon Wireless announces that its customers now have more options to personalize their wireless experience with new applications that let them create content to be listened to, shared and enjoyed on their mobile phones. The applications maximize the voice record features on certain mobile devices, giving customers the ability to customize their own content and make a statement with their wireless phones.

The new applications now available from Verizon Wireless give customers the power to create thematic clips that can be used as audio greeting cards; be their own music producer by mixing their own voice with pre-recorded tones and tracks then use them as ringtones; and be their own DJ by capturing their favorite part of certain songs to use as ringtones.

“Our wireless phones are becoming more and more a reflection of who we are, especially through what we listen to and put on them,” said Ed Ruth, director of digital music at Verizon. “By giving customers the creative freedom to generate and share some of the audio content for their phones, we’re bringing the Verizon Wireless mobile media experience to the next level of self-expression and personalization.” vz_tonemaker-lg_chocolate.jpg

ToneMaker® from Sonic Boom lets Verizon Wireless customers instantly become a music producer by adding and layering their own vocals to pre-recorded beats and music elements. The unique musical clips that are created can be used as personalized ringtones and can be shared with other subscribers to enjoy, critique and rate. ToneMaker is available for $4.49 per month on Get It Now®-enabled phones.

YouTones from FunMobility enables Verizon Wireless customers to easily create unique mobile audio media in the form of ringtones or audio messages by combining their own voices with pre-recorded, thematic YouTones performances. For example, customers record their voices, which are then transformed and blended into an original YouTone to sound like stadium sports announcers or birthday greetings, among other cool options. Customers with Get It Now-enabled phones can create individual YouTones for $2.49 each.

The award-winning mSpot Make-UR-Tones™ application allows users to create customized ringtones from a catalog of over 250,000 full-tracks. Users employ an intuitive editor within the application to cut up to 30 seconds of their favorite songs. Make-UR-Tones then turns the cuts into high-quality customized ringtones ready to be downloaded. Each customized ringtone is available for $3.49.
