SAN DIEGO, Calif. Sept. 10, 2008 -- DivX, Inc., a digital media company, today announced a
licensing agreement with Freescale Semiconductor, a global leader in
embedded semiconductors, granting DivX Certification™
to Freescale’s i.MX31 processor. DivX Certified®
processors from Freescale are designed to allow mobile phones, personal
media players (PMPs), personal navigation devices (PNDs), and in-car
media players to incorporate DivX® video
playback, thus expanding an ecosystem of over 100 million other DivX
Certified devices. Freescale’s i.MX processors
provide consumers with high performance multimedia platforms targeting
PMPs, PNDs and automotive infotainment that aligns well with DivX target
markets.
Freescale’s i.MX31, when combined with DivX
technology, will enable consumers to enjoy an expanding library of DivX
content on the go. Ideal for mobile applications, DivX video provides a
high-quality experience while maintaining a relatively small file size.
DivX Certification allows consumers to enjoy their digital content
across a variety of devices, including digital televisions, Blu-ray DVD
players, mobile phones, personal media players, and set-top boxes.
