Brussels, Belgium Sept. 29, 2008 -- Broadband World Forum --
Alcatel-Lucent announced today that
it has
signed a frame agreement with Telefónica to supply its home network management
solution. The first deliveries are already underway in Czech Republic,
Argentina, Peru and Spain.
Concretely, the solution facilitates and automates various home network
management processes, providing advanced functionalities for device
configuration, software download, inventory, problem detection and
troubleshooting. The solution thus solves quality of service problems before
they impact end-users – which is particularly important when offering video
services – ultimately offering an improved experience for end-users and
increasing their satisfaction with the service.
Alcatel-Lucent will deploy its 5580 Home Network Manager (HNM) enabling the
Telefónica Group to deliver innovative triple-play services while providing
customer homes with the necessary remote support. Alcatel-Lucent’s solution
will enable Telefónica to significantly reduce the number of support request
calls and on-site interventions.
“Telefónica is extending its trust in Alcatel-Lucent for a critical part of
its network, the one entering customer homes - which is directly linked to the
end-user’s satisfaction perception,” declared Alfredo Redondo, Alcatel-Lucent’s
global account leader for Telefónica. “As a strategic partner for this project,
we are fully committed to support the Telefónica Group worldwide in providing
its customers with an efficient home network management solution that will
allow them to forget their concerns with potential configuration and activation
problems of their home devices while minimizing operating expenditures for the
service provider.”
Alcatel-Lucent’s 5580 HNM is a vendor-agnostic solution based on the TR-069
management interface, which has been defined by the DSL Forum for multi-vendor
management of home devices. It is part of the award-winning Digital Home Care
solution, a comprehensive platform that takes care of all stages of a service’s
deployment – including line testing and validation, device installation,
service activation, customer support interaction and troubleshooting
operations. In addition to residential gateways, the product supports a full
array of home devices – including Femtocells, WiMAX subscriber stations and
IPTV set-top boxes.
