Now, Yougetitback.com has enhanced “Mobile SuperHero” with the ability to determine the actual physical location of a lost or stolen mobile device equipped with GPS or running the BlackBerry operating system 4.2 and above, or the Symbian operating system S60 2^nd and 3^rd editions. Many devices without GPS can be tracked via their proximity to individual wireless-network cell sites.

The geo location feature allows people to learn whether their devices are stationary or moving, and to track the routes of lost or stolen devices if they are being moved. But because users’ privacy is paramount with Yougetitback.com, only account holders can track their devices’ locations.

“Mobile SuperHero” allows users to lock their lost or stolen devices remotely once they notice their devices are missing. Once devices are locked, finders or thieves cannot access owners’ personal information or messages, and cannot make calls. With the new geo location feature, users can lock their devices remotely if “Mobile SuperHero” tracks the devices to areas beyond those the users have designated for them.

“For example,” Hannigan said, “a user in New York may be surprised to learn that his or her missing device has been transported to Texas or California somehow. Was it lost or stolen? The user can lock the phone remotely because ‘Mobile SuperHero’ has tracked it.”

Hannigan said the new “Mobile SuperHero” geo location feature can be very useful in reporting the theft of a valuable device to authorities and has the added benefit of providing more information to law enforcement in tracking someone who stole the device or used it as part of another crime.

He added that, because Yougetitback.com truly is Internet-based software as a service, a user’s geo location protection continues even if the device’s SIM card and telephone number are changed. Yougetitback can identify the new phone number, which also can aid in tracking the finder or thief.
