Withdrawal of Nokia Intellisync Provides Opportunities for Capricode Print E-mail
Oct. 3, 2008 -- Nokia’s announcement on Monday September 29th to discontinue the marketing and

development of its Intellisync business applications opens new opportunities for Capricode SyncShield Mobile Device Management product. Even though the market share of SyncShield has grown strongly during the recent year, Nokia Intellisync’s device management solution has been a strong competitor in the market.

Capricode has now very positive expectations for the future development of SyncShield market share. “SyncShield has been praised for its easiness and reliability. In addition, it works in almost all smartphones and PDAs, which is clearly a competitive advantage for us” says Antti Nevalainen, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, of Capricode.

Capricode sells SyncShield through service providers that offer it to their business customers using ASP (Application Service Provider), MSP (Managed Service Provider) business models or as an in-house solution. SyncShield is typically sold as a part of comprehensive mobile package together with mobile E-mail, anti-virus/firewall and other mobile solutions and services. In addition to the SyncShield’s superior architectural suitability for hosting, the core strength of Capricode SyncShield lies in Capricode’s strong commitment towards its service providers.

“We have learned that the only way to achieve happy SyncShield customers is to work in close cooperation with our partners” Mr. Nevalainen continues.

Mobile Device Management (MDM) market is now growing rapidly, as companies are starting to use smartphones and PDA devices as their employees’ daily tools. Therefore the need to maintain, administrate and secure these mobile devices increases continuously. The companies are now starting to realize how resource-consuming the application (such as push-mail and virus protection) installations and daily maintenance of the phones is. There are also other issues to consider, such as security risks related to the mobile devices containing company confidential information. With mobile device management, the application installations can be executed centrally without the device user involvement. In addition to this, the confidential information can be secured should the device be stolen.

“Being able to manage the Smartphones is a necessity, but to manage the phones with minimal resources is the real advantage” states Mr. Nevalainen.

Global mobile device manufacturer Nokia announced on Monday September 29th that it will discontinue the development and marketing of its Intellisync wireless business applications. Capricode, together with its partners, offers easy migration from Intellisync to solution suites managed with SyncShield.
