SEATTLE, Wash. Dec. 2, 2008 -- Cequint® announced today that U.S. Cellular is introducing improved
call screening for mobile subscribers with the launch of City ID® – an enhanced Caller ID feature which displays the city and state of incoming calls.
The first enhancement to number-only Caller ID in wireless, City ID automatically displays the location where an incoming phone number is registered – providing U.S. Cellular subscribers with an important tool to help identify callers and manage their mobile communications.
City ID, an application from Cequint, features over 20,000 specific cities in the U.S. and Canada, listing towns with as few as 700 people. This level of granularity makes City ID useful on a daily basis – helping to identify callers from across the state or across the country.
“Unless someone is saved into the mobile phone’s address book, subscribers only have a number to try and guess who’s calling them,” said Edward Perez, Sr. Director, Product Development and Management. “City ID gives U.S. Cellular subscribers that additional piece of information that helps identify the incoming caller.”
Available starting in November on the LG UX585 and Samsung Delve R800, U.S. Cellular subscribers will receive a complimentary 15-day trial of the application beginning with the first incoming call. Customers can subscribe to City ID for $1.99 per month or a one-time purchase of $34.99, added directly to their bill.
