NEEDHAM, Mass. June 23, 2009 -- Azigo, a leader in user-centric identity technologies, announced
today
that banking veteran Jeff Carter will join the company as CEO. Carter is
charged with leading a major transformation in the way businesses and
consumers interact. Azigo uses Information Card technology to
standardize identity-based transactions and create a simpler, safer user
experience.
Information Cards bring a familiar offline paradigm—the cards you carry
in your wallet—to the online world. They work with a new software tool
called an identity selector that operates as an extension to your Web
browser and mobile phone. The Azigo selector is available today.
Carter is a respected innovator in the financial services industry.
Prior to joining Azigo, he founded the Center for Future Banking at MIT
Media Lab, a first of its kind collaboration between the largest bank in
the world with a premier research university, MIT Media Lab. As Senior
Vice President, for Bank of America, he led the strategic planning
efforts for leveraging the company’s vast information cloud, data stores
and platforms. He has published several white papers, holds more than 10
patents and was named one of the top five most innovative people in
banking by American Banker magazine
"Jeff brings a solid mix of leadership, strategic planning, technical
expertise and deep vertical experience to the company," said Paul
Trevithick, founder of Azigo as well as Chief Technology Officer.
Carter rounds out a strong leadership team at Azigo which includes
Trevithick, and software industry veteran Jack Connors, who will
continue in his role as Azigo's president. Trevithick co-founded the
open source Higgins Project, as well as the Information Card Foundation,
whose members include PayPal, Equifax and Google.
"Azigo helps people manage their virtual and physical worlds seamlessly,
giving them an “always on” connection to their personal information.
This creates a tremendous opportunity for businesses that want to
deliver messages to their customers no matter where they are,” said
Carter. “The ability to create cross-site relationship context will
completely transform the way large institutions, affinity organizations
and other businesses communicate with – and receive information from –
their customers. I am thrilled to lead a company with such a compelling
value proposition, industry-leading partners and technology savvy."
In other company news, Azigo, formerly known as Parity, has also
launched a new website www.azigo.com
in support of its new identity and branding. The website highlights some
of the organizations that are leveraging Azigo's products including: AAA
Washington, Boston Community Change, Equifax, LeMay Auto Museum,
Minuteman Library Network, PayPal, Privo and Student Advantage.
