DENVER, Colo. Sept. 29, 2009 -- 360 iDev -- Aurora Feint Inc., developer of the
award-winning
social RPG puzzle games for the iPhone™ today presented
industry leading social gaming platform OpenFeint 2.1, including brand new
OpenFeint enabled titles, to hundreds of indie developers at the 360 iDev
conference in Denver.
Developer Endorsements
geoDefense Swarm debuted at #2 when it launched and is in the top 50
grossing games today. "geoDefense players were demanding popular social
features like leaderboards and friends. OpenFeint made adding these a
breeze!" says David Whatley, developer of geoDefense.
Rope'n'Fly 2, the top 50 follow up to the super successful Rope'n'Fly:
Developer Robert Szelenev says, "We needed highscores, leaderboards,
achievements and a way to show when your friends play the same game. There
was just one solution, integrating all this in a customizable way --
OpenFeint. Our game got much more online value by using OpenFeint, with
such little time required to integrate it. With just a few lines of code we
converted our games to fully online featured, community based games. It was
never so easy to let people get connected while playing our games."
Developer of Apple-featured game Unify, Zach Gage says, "For the life of
me, I cannot imagine why someone wouldn't want to include OpenFeint in
their game. Enough cannot be said for how awesome OpenFeint is."
Gage continues: "In just 30 minutes of implementation, OpenFeint added days
of replay value to Unify. After spending months working hard on Unify, the
last thing I wanted to do was figure out how to set up secure online
highscores. OpenFeint got them going for me in less than half an hour. I
was blown away. OpenFeint provides so much replay value to the end user,
and saves so much development time. A free service that's easy to
implement and makes people want Unify even more? I must be dreaming; you'd
have to be completely crazy to not want to use it. I can't believe it's
free, much less open-source."
Josh Rosen, developer of Apple-featured game Above & Beyond says, "It's
been a great experience working with OpenFeint during Above & Beyond's
development. They've always been extremely quick to roll out new and
exciting features and as the name suggests, OpenFeint is open. That's a
huge plus for indie developers like myself, looking to build a social
community around their games."
Pricing, Availability and Business Model
OpenFeint 2.1 is available immediately for download at www.openfeint.com.
OpenFeint continues to drive the industry towards frictionless adoption of
social gaming on the iPhone with its Open and Free business model compared
to closed platforms that require revenue shares and smaller social gaming
"feature" oriented software services without the breadth of a true
platform.
"We are proud of the incredible support we have received from indie
developers," said Jason Citron and Danielle Cassley, co-founders of Aurora
Feint. "We will let the indies themselves speak for OpenFeint rather than
say more about OpenFeint's leadership in the industry."
