B2M Solutions extends its Reach Across the Enterprise |

Oxford, UK - 1 February 2010:, experts in enterprise
mobility, has extended its award-winning mprodigy® software solution to
meet the growing demands of the enterprise
by managing notebook and tablet users in line-of-business (LOB) environments. These users need appropriate levels of control to ensure that their LOB applications are managed efficiently and that their enterprise data is secured and protected, whilst giving them the personal freedom to use non mission-critical applications.
In line with its strategy to support devices in LOB environments, B2M announces support for Vista, Windows XP and Windows 7 operating systems; this strategy will be developed further to include support for a greater variety of platforms utilised across the extended enterprise during 2010. The mobile market is evolving to such an extent that support for greater device and operating system (OS) diversity is becoming the norm and this in turn puts a greater emphasis upon the management associated with such a diverse landscape. Deployment of devices such as Blackberry or Apple iPhone in the Enterprise has typically been for corporate e-mail access and not for use in mission-critical LOB deployments.
Commenting on this initiative Julie Purves, Managing Director, B2M Solutions said, “line-of-business workers are increasingly utilising a diverse portfolio of ruggedized handheld devices, semi-ruggedized devices and notebook computers and we are extending our platform support to meet these needs. This move provides users with the flexibility they need whilst ensuring that the enterprise has the control it needs. It also ensures both a macro level of control across the entire organisation and a micro level of control down to the individual user or device.”
B2M adheres to a rigorous certification process that provides for always-available operations. Devices are B2M-certified to ensure they can carry out the comprehensive set of functionality needed to support the extensive demands of LOB mission-critical environments. Furthermore, thanks to its commitment to excellence throughout the entire mobile project lifecycle, mprodigy enables the delivery of an extensive set of mobility services.
Peter Molyneux, Sales Manager, Getac (UK) Limited said, “With B2M you can have the confidence that you are providing a device that has been certified to enable a breadth of service offerings to support mission-critical LOB projects. Furthermore, other laptop management products are merely extensions of existing fixed network management tools. So the B2M approach gives us a flexible yet robust approach, which delivers value-add to our customers.”
According to the Aberdeen Group, the driver for the trend towards uncontrolled PIM and notebook devices being used in the mobile landscape is largely economic. Companies are allowing the use of unauthorised or non-certified devices during the global recession because it would cost too much to issue approved and certified devices. “It is therefore highly likely that once the recession is over this trend will subside and the enterprise will pull back control,” commented Jenny Plaister, B2M’s Head of Marketing.
The announcement for extended platform support for notebooks, tablets and handheld or vehicle-mounted devices reinforces B2M’s strategic approach to the mobile enterprise. It will continue to extend its reach along with the evolving needs of its global LOB user base, whilst ensuring that its partners can deliver the breadth of services they need to increase competitiveness: individual users get the flexibility they require and the enterprise gets the control it demands.
