email and other applications from mobile devices. Vivísimo Velocity for Mobile will be available as an extension to the Velocity enterprise search platform, an end-to-end solution that allows searching on desktop, internal repositories, and external content from a single search box.
The increasing reliance on accessing corporate information from the road has led to the growth of Smartphone usage and appropriate software to connect to data sources. Corporate personnel that access email or intranets while away from their desks have specific needs that must be met quickly and efficiently. Velocity for Mobile optimizes search results for mobile environments and mirrors the key end-user features of Velocity Enterprise, such as clustered results and data call-outs for quick referencing. Velocity for Mobile functions in all popular mobile OS environments and connects to the Velocity enterprise search platform. Other features include:
- Information relevancy weighted to match users' typical workflow or line of business
- Results presented with shorter snippets and precise titles for each document, file or piece of data
- Crawling and indexing special collections such as customer data, support logs, and contract databases to ensure mission-critical data is located above the main result set
- Clicked results displayed as a cached version of the data to eliminate the need to download additional browsing software
Velocity for Mobile is generally available and requires little configuration to transform the enterprise deployment of Velocity into a mobile ready solution. Web tools allow for easy adjustments on relevancy of results and creation of new mobile call outs. The application complies with pre-existing corporate security settings; and the requirement for VPN access to corporate data ensures maximum security.
